I saw The Jesus and the Mary Chain (JAMC) at the Glasshouse in Pomona last night. They did a secret show before their Friday show at The Coachella Music Festival. I went down about 3 hours early to wait in line and there was only me and 4 other people there waiting, which was shocking. The whole time JAMC was doing their soundcheck and we could hear them as clear as day. It was like listening to the concert. The second they finished the soundcheck Jim and William Reid come walking out of the venue. I walked over and say hi to both of them and they were very nice. We chatted about the soundcheck and Jim asked me if they sounded OK and I said they sounded awesome. He thanked me for that. I asked William for a guitar pick and he dug into his pocket and gave me one. Even if I never got to see the show at least I met the Reid brothers. Oh happy day :-)

The show itself was great. If you've been to The Glasshouse, then you know it's a small venue. I was up front. There were 2 opening acts. The first band was called Giant Drag. They had a cute, tiny female singer who sang pretty cool rocking songs with titles like "My Dick Sucks" and "You Fuck like my Dad". The female singer claimed that when she was 8 years old, she was dating Chris Issak when he was in his 30's and he stole a song she wrote and he had a hit with it...then she sang "Wicked Game". She was funny :-) The second band was called The Icarus Line and they sucked bad...not worth writing about.

Then JAMC came on and rocked the house. Everyone went crazy. They sounded great. The only thing that sucked is that they only played about 10 songs and left the stage. Other than that, a great show and a memorable day. Check out the pics I took (some are not so great) below.
