I hate the fact that all the little habits I've gained in the navy that still stick with me. I tried to be as natural as myself as possible, and I still find myself being AT2(AW) Arebalo, instead of plain ol' Mike, if you get what I mean.

Yeah, I hear ya on the feeling better as a civilian than as a serviceman. There's still parts of me that love playing GI Joe like I used to when I was a little boy, but the adult me isn't GI Joe. I'm completely aware of all the little things that surround a servicemember, i.e. programs, etiquettes, policies, red tape, etc. All of those things jaded my conception of the soldiers I used to play with. I couldn't be who I really was when I put the toys down while being in the military. For 4 years I sacrificed myself as a person, but 4 years I added onto myself as a person.

getting out of the military is kind of scary. I'm there with you totally and I'm still trying to adjust to civilian life. It's weird whenever you feel like you're permanently on leave. I'm not gonna tell you what to do because you already know the answer and on your way to doing it.
