... in recent days. It seems like virtually every set has been amazing, stunning, fantastic... I'm running out of words, really. Just want to say thanks to all the models for making the last few days ridiculously enjoyable and thanks to all the photographers for presenting the girls so well. I've become quite addicted to my feed the last couple of weeks and that shows...

Agreed. Totally. It's hard to come up with new ways to describe how great some of these sets are.
jezzied:
It is, isn't it? Some really beautiful hopefuls, too, that really deserve to do well.

It's good to get away, even if it's only for a couple of days. I'm away at my brother-in-law's for the last couple of days and head back home this morning. It's been good. We went on a long walk through some bleak but beautiful marshland yesterday and I now feel much more relaxed and much less stressed. While I've still got plenty of marking...

... has been stressful and more than a little pants. So I'm watching Doctor Who. The old stuff, too. The Sontaran Experiment complete with South African accented colonists, a robot that looks like a refugee from a powdered mashed potato advert and the incomparable Tom Baker, who manages to turn every line he's given into gold. Magnificent stuff! 😊

arroia:
I have tried so very hard to get into Doctor Who and just couldn't. Guess that's not the wisest thing to say to a fan...

Thank you for the compliment. :)

@Arroia: You're welcome. 😊 As to Doctor Who, it probably isn't for everyone. I can certainly see its flaws, but it was such an essential and persistent part of my childhood that I can't really shake it. It's well and truly hard-wired into my DNA! πŸ˜ƒ

Powering on with this. The first season ends on the kind of cliffhanger that, if I was having to wait a full year for its resolution, would leave me screaming with frustration. The first two episodes of season two, though, are, if anything, better. The character interaction between the two brothers remains the key focus, but there's more at stake and, with the [BIG SPOILER]...

This is easily one of my top 5 favorite shows of all time. Hows the watching coming?
jezzied:
About half way through season 2. Still enjoying it immensely. It's just that a few of my favourite shows are back after their mid-season breaks and we've slowed down our watching of Supernatural as a result. 😊

... at the train station. Late night at work, late train and, ultimately, a (very) late tea. At this point, a bowl of lukewarm sprouts would be welcome. Really.

Mmmm this just made me really hungry for a burger! Haha

The burgers in question were absolutely delicious! 😊

... are interesting, after all." Yes, I'm re-watching Death Note (courtesy of Netflix), this time with my 17 year old son who has already pointed out, after just one episode, that it's one of the most disturbing things he's ever seen. And he doesn't know the half of it!

I must say the Japanese voice acting, particularly the chap who plays Light, is top notch....

Just finished watching this!

@Ekoorb_a I've got aaaages to go yet. I watched the two live action films a while back so I've got some idea of what happens. The anime's better, of course. 😊

This week's blog homework is an interesting one, because this is one I've thought about a lot over the years.

If I could run my own business, this is what I'd do:

I'd run a comic/sci-fi bookshop. It'd have a small, cosy cafe attached, staffed by friendly, knowledgeable people who knew how to make the best lattes, mochas and, above all, cakes and tarts on...

One of my Christmas purchases. I'm about half way through and, really, this is very very good. It's meticulously plotted and, although its large cast of characters means it sometimes feels like it's moving quite slowly, it's a very absorbing story.

Oh, and dramatic. It's very very dramatic. Right from the first issue, the stakes are high and they keep getting higher as the story...

I also loveΒ  Sean Pertwee as Alfred, I love the kid who is Penguin, I could not believe he was the same kid from an episode of the walking dead either! Shows how talented he really is!

Just to update this, I finished vol 1 of Batman Eternal a couple of weeks ago. It's excellent. The weekly format means the pace *is* slower than a lot of more modern comics, but that's because the plotting is dense and you're really getting a sense of a city facing a co-ordinated assault on numerous fronts. I think I've mentioned elsewhere that one of the benefits of this approach is that all the members of the Bat family get extended 'screen time' and the Batgirl/Red Hood pairing is probably my favourite. There's a fantastic character moment near the end of their mission in Brazil that really tugged at my heartstrings. All in all, this is a great story, told very powerfully. I can't recommend it enough. I've got the next twenty issues in single issue format and I've got a lot of catching up to do! πŸ˜ƒ

Currently watching The Grey. Not good if you find wolves scary. Or plane crashes. Or manly men being stupid.

Liam Neeson, of course, is awesome...

I hope you don't mind, but I thought I'd share the opening few words of a fantasy story I'm kind of stalled on at the moment. Please feel free to comment with suggestions and/or criticism. I'm more than happy for people to pick apart my work. :)

β€œWhere are we going?”

Excited and knowing, Ecbert's smile was the only answer Rowena's question received. Her hand...
