This week's blog homework is an interesting one, because this is one I've thought about a lot over the years.
If I could run my own business, this is what I'd do:
I'd run a comic/sci-fi bookshop. It'd have a small, cosy cafe attached, staffed by friendly, knowledgeable people who knew how to make the best lattes, mochas and, above all, cakes and tarts on the planet. It would have a back room where customers could come along and play CCGs and RPGs during the day and in the evenings.
On the first floor, there would be offices. From those offices, I'd run a profitable small press that would publish a range of sci-fi mags, chapbooks, novellas and anthologies. I'd be publisher and occasional editor.
So that's it, really. If I could run my own business, it would be a comic shop plus cafe plus small press publishing house and I would be so happy that my arms would be permanently bruised due to all the having to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming. 😃😃😃
