the red line is the path charley was going to take. the blue line is our evacuation route, and the black line is the route charley finally settled on once we were checked into our hotel.
basically, we evacuated into the center of the hurricane.

HOWEVER, in my defense, everyone was telling west coast floridians to get the hell inland. by the time charley hit orlando, it was only a class 2, unlike the class 4 that was expected. i was kind've hoping the epcot ball* would break free and start rolling around downtown orlando causing mass destruction, but no such luck.

our hotel was nice, but it was definitely unseaworthy. i was kicking it indian style with my headphones on in the seventh floor stairwell looking out watching the power flicker on and off as far as i could see, until the stairwell started taking on water, so i took off back to my room and hung out there for awhile. then the power went out, so i started wandering around the lobby until i finally passed out on one of the couches in the lobby.

what's quite possibly the funniest thing about this entire weekend, is that as we were driving back from orlando, the sky kept getting darker and darker, and now that we're here, it's storming again way bad, we're under a tornado watch, and a flash flood warning. also, the street and parking lot for my apartment complex are flooded.

so now i'm home, and i'm tired as all hell. i'll probably go take a shower and pass out until tomorrow morning. thanks for all your hurricane safety wishes. that was really awesome, and you guys rock.

edited to say that i'm moving out of florida. this place is going down and i'm not the captain, so i'm not going down with it. screw that noise.
