Horses

My thoughts are with you, master.
No turn drives so sharply as yours,
The way it bends and sways,
It leaves sideways from the perpendicular.
Atlantis is now so far away
From the murmurs of mermaids
That god does not hear them any longer.
Running to fall behind this life
In seconds intermittent,
Like poppies on Saturday bread.

Decadently. Let me wash
Clean this odor, scraping my tongue
With sandpaper candy hearts.
Tell the darlings
That I love them all
And that the bitterness
Is a tolerable pain to take and swallow.
The horses they rode in on
Are blessed now, and they may go

As far as cats go... Damn, I love them more than I can say. But then again, I am *almost* in over my head bringing a new 2 month old male kitten into the apartment with an already seven year old *solo* male cat. He's like me- he hates having roommates. I have been researching methods of introducing cats to be housemates for awhile now, before taking the next step... But we never end up being as prepared as we thought we were, do we?

I love my cat Admiral... And I know he gets lonely when I'm at work and stuff, especially on my 11-12 hour work days (keeping two jobs can get a bit hectic...) and I wanted the big guy to have someone to keep him company eventually. And since I would hate to have some random, non-working individual living on my couch, my decision was to get a new kitten. They are said to be accepted by adult cats better than other adult cats, I've heard. I can't write tonight, either. (((Am I making sense to you? lol)))

Anyway... Well, I don't know. They hate each other. Admiral was angry with me all afternoon (brought the kitten home around 3:30). He hid behind the couch all evening, and only came out and started getting comfortable again in the last two hours.

I am keeping Zorro (the kitten) in my bedroom with the door shut. In fact, Admiral is sniffing at the crack in the door right now, for the first time. <<<What A Breakthrough!!!>>> So I guess it's not as bad as I thought it was several hours ago... But this is killing me. Every piece of instruction I found on introducing a kitten to an adult cat tells you to, of course, keep the kitten in a closed room and spend all the time you can with your resident cat. And this poor little Zorro cries and cries and cries and cries when I go away. <<pout>>

I feel like I am taking care of a newborn child. Really. I am absolutely exhausted. It has been such a strain on my physical, mental, and emotional bodies trying to re-establish my relationship with Admiral. I hope everything goes fairly smooth... not that I expect this to be a joyride or anything of the sorts...
