It's a little island on the end of the Aleutian chain called Shemya. As you can see (if the photo works that is), there's an airfield, some buildings, and not a lot else. I'll be leaving (on a jet plane) on Saturday and returning Wednesday. Every now and again airplanes actually divert there if the weather is bad here at Elmendorf. They have a cable barrier, and we're going down there to recertify the barrier. Rather, two of our jets are flying down there to test, and consequently recert, the barrier and I'm leading a maintenance crew with the sole mission of fixing said jets should they break. It should turn out to be a very interesting time.
