You know what grinds my gears? People who return books to a store.

I'm not talking about returning an item you already have or a book you've read. I'm talking about gifts from other people and then those people go to the store for store credit.

First off, from the people I've seen, they all have these "attitudes" like they are high and mighty. Then you think about the action of returning a gift. Someone probably thought long and hard what to give the person, maybe waited in line for about two minutes or fifteen (depending how close the holiday was), and spent their "hard-earned"* money.

*Hard-Earned is relative these days.

The person giving the gift should have just said, "You know what, since its a Government Holiday and we're supposed to give each other gifts, knowing that you would not take anything other than money because your a heartless and apathetic human being, here's some cash. Spend it well, fucker."

Maybe I'm just a little old-fashioned, back in the day when gift giving meant something other than an excuse to get something some person did not deserve or earn.

Why return a book? Other than you read it before or have another copy. There should be a national policy that if you return a book, and if you do not have another copy of the book, then you should take a short exam detailing what you read from the book. If you do not pass the exam, you are not allowed to return the book.

We need America to be literate and open to new ideas. Read Today!

Neither. I was at B&N today and there were three cashiers. B&N does not have its own "Returns" booth, so two of the ladies were working with all these returns for books and one of the young ladies was telling people only those who are making a purchase can come by.

Two of the ladies in front of me said "Oh now there is a 'requirement'" ... dude, I used to work in the cashier department before and people like that... anywho, I went up to the cashier doing her job and told her, "So lots of returns eh?"

"Yeah, and lots of people with attitudes."

"Ah don't worry about them. Your doing a great job."

After she gave me my change back and my books, she said, "Thank you for what you said. It made my day." (Smile)
"Hey, your a hard worker. You should know that and your appreciated as such." wink

I empathize.

I know... people are ungrateful impatient shits sometimes. And having been a service/sales oriented person since the dawn of time, I APPRECIATE good service and I show respect. Then again, if they suck? OH, I will let you KNOW!!! LOL!
