Got me new snakey today and she's a real sweetheart. 3-foot long Coastal Carpet Python (pics coming tomorrow) with an amazing pattern. Much less washed out than most of the specimens I've seen in the past. I'm going to be keeping her at work as sort of a mascot.

Carpets are awesome - I've been thinking about adding an irian jaya to my collection. I would love to have a coastal, but most of the ones I've been offered/seen avaliable were ugly and worn looking. If I'm going to have a semi-arboreal species, I want it to be a knock out so that it looks good on display.

i used to have a baby ball python, until my mom started having nightmares about him getting out of his tank and killing the entire family, etc. i even put a thick-ass unabridged dictionary on the top of the tank but it didn't handle her fears.

I'm taking care of a friend's snakes today and when I look into the bottom-most enclosure, I notice a crapload of babies! He'd mentioned that he thought the snake was sick (he got it for free from somebody that wasn't able to take care of it, and it was malnourished) since it wasn't eating much for the last month or two.

So now I'm here...

haha, good plan! - Sounds like you've got your hands full! Check my journal in about half an hour - I'm sure you'll be amused by my next post smile
kris:
yeah, I know. weird things are afoot.

Daytona, ahh..I really really really want to go, but I'm not sure. I am definitely going to try to go, but I have a few hundred bucks saved up and I need to spend it on new enclosures. I have taken in 2 (now 3!) new rescues (all ball pythons..argh) in the past few weeks, and some of my yearlings are in need of permanent enclosures. I would hate to go to Daytona and find the perfect snake that I've been wanting, and not have any money to buy it. I would be really pissed. So, I'm trying to figure out if I have enough money to build enclosures, and still be able to go and at least pick up some new snake hooks or something...

I'm picking up some plexiglass for enclosures tomorrow, so I'll see how my funds are after that. I missed Daytona last year and I will curse myself to hell if I miss it two years in a row!

Long time, no update. Not really a whole lot to say, though.

I've been trying to buy a car, but my credit sucks. I went through a buttload of trouble to get 1 bad credit item off my history (I was accidnentally charged and sent to collections), and now that it's off, my credit rating didn't change AT ALL!. What fuckers. Guess it'll be a...

Got back from SF yesterday. I had a lot of fun at prom, especially since I got to see a lot of people who I haven't gotten a chance to see in quite a long time.

Unfortunately, while all of the animals were still alive and well when we got home, the DSL modem was dead. It's gonna be a long weekend without any internet...

Leaving for SF in a couple of hours. My fucking suit is getting here a day late, so I have to go find something last minute. At least I can save the suit for Defcon in a couple of months.

you're going to wear a suit to defcon? I didn't know it was that kind of event...or maybe it's not "that kind" of suit.

Someone crossed a line today. Not just any line, but one of those lines with a spike strip on it that you just can't back over.

drexel:
ouch. i am a firm believer that all lines can be crossed back over eventually, although some lines require way more work to cross over than other lines. hope it all gets sorted.
drexel:
yeah sometimes you just need a few minutes to pull yourself out of your head, go to the beach, go for a drive...whatever. then go back in and fix things. if you need to chat, im me.

I've decided I need to break the 1000 post mark before prom. Mainly just because I'm really fucking bored and haven't hit 1000 after being on the site for over 2 and a half fucking years (not that all of that time is counted, but still).

I think it's the creepy bowtie that really does it. Ever seen a plumber in a bowtie?

ahhh...new profile picture. There was something creepy about finding this on our door. Perhaps more creepy than walking in and having a random person inside.

Ha. Yeah. I hate it when that happens. Usually I pull that shit when I leave out a semicolon somewhere. Heh.

Eep. That's pretty creepy indeed. I wonder how many plumbers and electricians had to die in mistaken "self-defence" accidents before they came up with that sign.
unravled:
Man, if I found that on my door, I'd go in and kick some ass.

Hey, if I didn't like it, I wouldn't be doing it. smile

It's just frustrating when the major roadblocks are totally out of your hands, and suddenly something like this happens and everyone says "oh, hey, we should have listened to you months ago. Now fix it. All at once." biggrin
kris:
thanks. Sorry about your rat, too.

Your snakes are gorgeous!

hey, i heard this cool quote - "If you want something badly enough, the entire universe will conspire to give it to you."

I think there might be some truth to it.

ok, bye for now smile

I think I'm finally starting to appreciate my job as I sit here all alone with a 40 rocking out to the dead milkmen and some vandals. If only I didn't have to work until midnight and take a bus through the ghetto...

Yeah, the only thing about Busch Gardens is I wish that they had a larger reptile exhibit. I can't wait for Daytona in August..are you coming this year?

To give you an idea of this weekend's insanity, I woke up at 6pm today, went into the living room, and tried to turn on the TV with a flashlight.

yep, it was *that* good

I love how Bush looks at the seating chart before he pretends he's going to actually answer one of the journalist's questions, and then he acknowledges the journalist on a first name basis. I think HE THINKS that we aren't smart enough to realize that he's looking at a seating chart. He doesn't know their names. Well, he might know Helen Thomas' name because he's scared of her or something. And he probably is on a first name basis with all his buddies at FOX News. But it looks disingenuous when he calls on the reporters as "Dave" and so on instead of "guy with the pink tie" or whatever. ALSO, Bush's tie was really hard to look at when drunk. Or sober. If Bush had actually held press conferences on a regular basis like normal presidents do, he would know that you don't wear ties and shirts and things with small patterns. HAAAAAATE. Hate. Hate, hate, hate.
