This is the collection of Salt and Pepper Shakers collected by my Great Grandmother over her married life. It's been in storage for years, and now that we're settled again, it's time to put them in their case, the half round China Closet that she received on her wedding day from my Great Grandfather. Amazing to look at, it's been given to me as the family legacy, when I was only 13. Although I've lived many years on my own, it's not until now that it's been unpacked and set up. I didn't bother with it in the first house, but now, it seems like home, so I guess it was time.

There are a TON of shaker sets! The Grands loved to take road trips and these were her souvenirs from all those excursions. I love them all. There are miniature washer/dryer, television and mixer sets, which were the little gifts given when they were on an old game show. They also won the real items, but those have long since been gone.

These are all the pairs out of the paper and wrappings.

I think this set of a barber shaving a pig is possibly my very favorite. I remember standing nose close to the case as a small child and peering through the watery old curved glass, never daring to touch it, and staring at this set.

On a completely different note: I found these two rogues sexing up the tail light on my car the other day.

And I bought a new painting. By Enid Edmonds, done about 40-50 years ago i think. I was going to sell it, but the more i look at it, the more i like the little bird at the end of a dead, leafless branch, thoughtfully reflecting back, ready to fly away. It speaks to me about the past and the future, in the simplest way. Standing back from it a bit, it all comes into focus, something which, when standing too close is easy to miss. Kind of like life.

Anyway, off to work. The Fed wised up and dropped the Prime rate by a half point, so things should pick up soon. I called that one. I'll call another. The best plan, I suspect, is to loosen up the purse strings by the holidays, and then to drop the rate a half point again in December or January. If they are wise, it's the most brilliant move. Hope they work it out. It would help many people out and stabilize the real estate economy a bit.

Still busy E-bay as well; rare well cared for boy stuff here and also, Wonderfully fun Girl things here

OMG! I love them. Every last one down to the itty bitty holes.

My parents collect S&Ps, too smile I surmise that one of my future daughters will have a blog similar to yours one day smile
