yet again, sorry I've lacked in posts... I'm in the midst of a very large project that im very excited about.
The lack of a music venue down here in Jackson, MS and the mass amount of bands and musicians in the area have given me the idea to start a small venue for the thriving scene. I'm in the middle of writing a business plan and starting to look for funding. Funding, of course, will be the hardest part.
I've looked at some real estate and am currently looking for a warehouse type building with some sort of loading dock and ample parking. Eventually we'd like to put a coffee shop in there so we can be a running business day and night. We'll provide space for bands to practice as well as offer areas for teachers to hold private lessons since the only music store anywhere near here is Guitar Center and they well.... suck.
We'll offer the area for rent on nights there aren't shows for private parties, speakers, even church.
I'd like to hold a church service there at least once a month so we can claim ourselves as a congregation and avoid those nasty taxes.
We've got bands knocking the doors down that arent even there to play the first show... BIG BANDS.
The demand for a place like this is out of this world... kids need a place to go enjoy good music, be with friends and keep off the streets. We'd like to provide that place.
I'm open to any suggestions and would really appreciate comments.
