I've been feeling like a really bad father lately. Michael got a fever and an ear infection last week. He has issues with medicine. Taking things I mean. Between the sensory part of his autism and the gag reflex of his Gerd you just can't win. If you try too hard to get him to take it, all of it including his lunch is on the floor. We try to be creative but the little boy is smart.
So last week we had to take him back to the doctor to get his antibiotics in a shot. The doc said one shot some times does the trick. I didn't know that it is one shot in each leg. And of course I have to hold him down while they do this. The shot seemed to work for a couple of days then on Monday, Bang! It was back in full force. So we had to do a treatment of antibiotics which consisted of a shot in each leg for the last 3 days. It's kept me up at nights. I tend to worry about him.
Luckily this was the last day and poor guy can barely walk his legs being so sore.
I know it is for the best, but I still feel like a heel. Oh the joy of being a parent.

hugs to you both. it's all out of love, and it sounds like you're doing the best you can to make him as comfortable as possible. i think you're doing a great job.
