good night rosa and thanks for everything. i heard this pastor speak in church one day. he said,

the one thing you will never hear me say is that i'm ashamed of my country. i love my country.

(this was on the fourth of july, no less.) i love my country too. it's a beautiful place but at an ugly price (in no particular order):

genocide
racism
sexism

genocide isn't readily apparent and i wouldn't point iraq as a genocidal campaign against the iraqi people but it is the wildest fucking goose chase...but we already know that....

racism is ingrained in the fabric of america (and the rest of the world that lacks melanin, judging by the racist shit that goes on in european soccer stadiums) but, racism isn't as blatant and palpable as it used to be; lynchings (except for james byrd),... and other shit... but
subliminal, underhanded shit will continue to slip thru: police beatings, rush limbaugh getting his tongue stuck on the roof of his asshole, bill "the gambler" bennet wiil continue to figure out how to lessen the crime problem by aborting some nigger babies (he didn't say it, but i heard him think it, trust me.), music conglomerates or whatever the fuck they are will continue to push aside talented artist for more 50 cents (or the dollar man, as my aunt calls him. but then again that "in da club" was kinda catchy....must resist...must...), black folks will cotinue to confound everyone by calling each other nigga, nigger, and nigguh and occasionally ziggah...for those sideways niggas oops

as for sexism...there are many levels; men and women are supposed to be one way, anything in between is unacceptable in our sexist society. if man has any feminine qualities: they're suspect. women: same thing.

and so i say that to say this, i love my country but i'm ashamed of all the hatred that has gone on in it's name. we are fighting terrorists abroad now when there are terrorist still in this country and these terrorists call themselves patriots, christians, and americans yet they will spit on and condemn their own countryman that are gay, any color other than white, or they don't have a penis.
