I strongly believe there is an epidemic of rape and sexual assault against women in this country and many other countries. I strongly believe not enough is being done to combat this epidemic. There are thousands of rape kits going untested for years at a time. When they finally are tested, it has become apparent many times that evidence was able to prosecute and probably convict before a rapist attacked again.
There are multiple judges that have more feelings for the rapist instead of the survivor of the heinous crime. Survivors are treated worse than the rapist throughout the whole process of the justice system. Survivors are made to relive the experience over and over. Survivors are attacked and punished throughout the process. Remember, it never matters what the survivor was wearing. It never matters if the survivor was drinking. It doesn’t matter how many people the survivor has slept with in the past. None of it matters!
The whole justice system needs to be overhauled. Survivors are not the criminals. At the same time, I know women are not the only survivors, but I personally know too many women that are and this has gone on too long.
There are too many survivors!
