So I decided that for some reason, video games were better for my sanity than beautiful women, so the past few weeks I've been playing those instead of browsing the site in my time before work. Ladies, you're wonderful, but sometimes you just gotta smack some bandits and dragons with a big sword or put some buckshot into a Raider's chest.
Work's been rough, and it's just gonna get rougher. At first, we had our old guys who won't drive our chase vehicle because, well, they're old and don't want to drive 9 hours a night, so we younger guys have been picking up that slack. Well one whiner, M, just thinks that because he doesn't want to, he doesn't have to, either. As if any of us want to drive the damn thing all night. And now we've got R, who swears he can't stay awake without tons of caffeine, so he's been pulled from driving it. Driving the thing now falls to me and H, but M's gonna get his ass in the damn car whether he likes it or not. If he somehow gets pulled from driving it because he's just a little bitch, then H and I better get a damn raise or something, because it's just bullshit now.
Saturday I went canoeing with my sister and some friends, and that was pretty fun. Rather, we went cabrewing (?) because we had plenty of booze. I got scraped up when I slipped on some rocks as I tried climbing to shore, and my shoulders got a nice bit of sunburn on them. I can't even remember the last time I got sunburn. It hasn't started peeling yet, but it's still (more) annoying to wear my Kevlar vest at work now. I crashed at the family's house afterward, so Sunday morning I woke to an empty house because they left for vacation in Florida, and I couldn't go because other guys are already taking the week off.
It felt like looking into the future: waking up alone and in pain. But it's not like that's a new thing for me. I never manage to get anywhere with women, so I've warmed up more than I probably should to that fact.
I've got some friends in England who are meeting up in July, so I've been wrestling with my manager about getting time off to go hang out with them, but we're facing the same problem of other guys wanting those days off. He's trying to move one around because it'd help us both if that guy switched weeks, but given how things have been at work, I'm not holding my breath. Maybe later I'll just take a couple weeks off and do some kind of road trip to see everyone. Barring that, I can always visit a friend in South Korea, or finally buy a rifle.
