"He gets put in jail and not only does he get his own room, but he also gets to watch t.v. all day."
This is a very general comment I hear about prisoner X all the time. Whether it's even accurate or not is of no importance. The problem is that what this person is actually saying is that depriving someone from the accessing the world is a very minor punishment compared to removing their access to television. It seems that television has become more important than real-life.
So if these people are at home all day watching t.v., what's the difference between them and that prisoner ? (At least the prisoner doesn't have to work all day to pay their cable bill...)
