I felt at home

I thought I would share something, I apologize because the grammar coming up will probably be less than perfect, but I wanted to copy over what I was writing last night in a conversation I had, as I was still in the moment. So I'm just adding some context in between to complete the story.

I will likely remember last night as one of the best nights in recent memory, and hopefully the start of a new era. I’m happier than I’ve been in years. Was turned onto a new club last week, it’s a weekly goth/alternative night here in Dallas called The Church, the people are amazing, friendly, welcoming, non-judgmental, and infinitely diverse.

Last week I dipped my toe in, but mostly stuck with the person that took me. Tonight I really dove in, met tons of new amazing people, really burrowed in. I get welcomed, appreciated, seen, all the cliches.

I finally felt like I really belongs. Yeah. It’s a great feeling. I don’t remember feeling like this in many, many, many years.

In a few months I'm moving out of Las Colinas to an apartment in Downtown Dallas. I’m more excited than ever to move out of the suburbs and into downtown in a few months.

The Church is an amazing place the likes of which I never imagine existed on Dallas.

Within 10 minutes of getting there tonight i was given a “safe sex care package” and a rape whistle by a drag queen from the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence,

Throughout the night I met new people, all of them were friendly. I danced with total disregard, I hugged people and was hugged back. It was open and welcoming in a way that a "normal" club could never be.

I'll be back there every Sunday that I can from here on out. If you're in Dallas, or traveling through Dallas on a Sunday night, look it up. Check it out. You won't regret it.
