Ok, a bit more awake now. Lets see.... June 6th is the last post I had before I was AWOL. Orientation for work on June 9th was fine, needed to get some shoes and a belt, and everything else was in order. Monday came and was my first day in the Baltimore County Police Academy. Day got off to a bad start. Basically most of us got ripped up for not being in order for inspection. Wrong belts, shoes not shiny enough, lint on our suit jackets, strings hanging from our shirts. They got us with everything. And then we were told to get into front leaning rest position
As much fun as anything with "rest" could be, basically we were all in push up position. Did a bunch of push ups, held the position for as long as they pretty much wanted us to, and then we were released to our first class.
First class wasn't bad, the officer said it would be somewhat of a laid back class. Staying awake was not a problem on day 1, however at some point in time it became a problem because we are learning some boring stuff at times.
At the end of the day, the instructors had something fun planned for us. Our first day of physical training and we felt it. They said we didnt even end up running very far but it ended up taking a lot out of us as a group. Running, push ups, flutter kicks, and a few more goodies for us on Monday afternoon. We even got to crawl across the grass for 15 min because someone decided to bring their ID to PT with them and they lost it.
Academically, I'm not overall too concerned at this point. They might be out to get us on some things out here, but for the classes they are on our side. All the material to this point has been either easy material, or just easy quizzes so I haven't had any issues yet. First final exam I have is this Friday, July 6th. Hopefully it goes well.
As far as the physical aspect of the academy, I have gotten a little bit accustomed to our regular PT sessions. We also hit the weight room now since PT "officially" began this past Wednesday. There will also be extra sessions known as "AA sessions." As long as we do as we're supposed to, we won't have any Attitude Adjustment sessions. But should we slip up one too many times it'll be a long day for us.
First payday was this past Friday
Always nice to get paid for working, especially when you've been working 3 whole weeks without pay. Went to the movies yesterday and saw 1408. Very good movie, I enjoyed it. Oh, right forgot to mention. I got a new car just before I started at the academy. I'm now driving around in an '05 Dodge Neon with about 40k miles on it. Thats about all I can think of at the moment, so I'll be back later with more I'm sure.
