Ack what a day. We got a fairly nasty ice storm here. Not as bad as the one two years ago, but still fairly severe. It took me twenty minutes to get in my car and then another ten to scrape the ice off. So I was 30 minutes late to work. Which is fine because other then my boss I was the only one there to make it in. Another half hour and a front desk receptionist made it in and that's all that's here today. That's out of a department of eight people and we had three.
Then, about 9:30, my mom calls because she locked her keys in her car at work and had a co-worker take her home to get the spare key but found that my brother wasn't there (snow day for him of course), so she calls on her co-workers cell to have me drive there and unlock the house so she can grab the spare car key. Well I get there and we unlock the door and sure enough Scott was there, he just had the music on so loud he couldn't hear the doorbell or knocking. Sigh.
Still I can't say it's got me too down. I decided to pick up Applebees for lunch and treat my co-workers as well. I had a $25 gift certificate there, and it covered all three of our lunches with some to spare. So I got to raise their spirits and have a good lunch too. Plus the office is nothing if not quiet, few appointments, few calls, not a lot of people turning stuff in for me to work on (which is good as I had to help cover the front desk phones and audit medical records).
