The funeral was last Friday. It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. I'd do it again in an instant but I wouldn't wish that sort of pain on anyone. His mother and sister looked ok considering the circumstances but his widow looked like a shell of a human being. I really feel awful for Mel. They were highschool sweethearts, and they really did complete each other. Still it was pretty amazing. 1,500 people came out and the funeral procession was over 3 miles long. Joe was posthumously promoted to Corporal. And I found out that after he received his second purple heart he didn't have to go back, but he felt he had a job to do and wanted to see it through. I'm not a big fan of this war but you got to admire that level of commitment.

On a brighter note I've heard that the first season of Gargoyles is coming to DVD on December 7th. Greg Weisman, who created the show, apparently made the announcement at this year's Gathering of the Gargoyles convention. Also it will feature commentary with Weisman and David Keith (aka Goliath). Sweeetttt. *wipes fanboy drool*

I really am impressed with him...as well as the others serving our country. Those men and women really have patriotic pride. My cousin (the Marine) had served over in Baghdad when war broke out....he was there for several months. His time was coming up for leaving the military. However they just got the call that his platoon would be going back overseas to fight. He decided that he wanted to re-enlist and go back over.....he said that he couldn't leave his boys...knowing what goes on over there. After much much persuading from our entire family he decided to leave. We told him he had served his time and his country. I'm really proud of him....as well as your cousin.
I'm really sorry. My condolenses go out to you and your family.
