I was wondering... Why don't planes have autopiloted landing procedures?

Think about. Countless movies have been made and the dramatic climax has been the fact that some nobody has to play hero/heroine because they have to land the plane themselves.

Sure this rarely ever happens except in the big screen, but what if it did happen? The chances of one of the passengers being able to land a plane let alone fly it would be even rarer. Despite popular belief, not every American flight has an Air Marshall on board (they know how to fly, land, kill shoe-wielding terrorists).

Just a thought.
