I'm out of hospital; nothing overwhelming but painful; Crohn's disease. I will say, my docs were excellent. But, man -- I hate being stuck full of needles. (Odd, I know with the tattoos; it's the whole vein thing). But, hey, thanks for your kind words to me and Li (Polonovia) and we swear we're getting married this week. Really! We were gonna do...

Married?

In need of a pet goat named Roy?

Li and I will be married this week. Huzzah! We get the license today. I go back into hospital today as well, sadly, so we hope to have a ceremony before I die. (Not to be morbid or anything, but that's a real concern right now) Thanks to all of you for your kind letters. They mean a lot to both of us.

Ah, the excitement of perpetual home repairs and snow on the horizon. Could life in Chicago be any sweeter? Really, I think not. Off to Fado tonight for customer appreciation night (read: free drinkies, which is great considering I'm not a drinker!) and then over to a friends where she has a giant sewing machine to peg my new jeans. First pair in four years....

Ah yes, the bar where I met the two cohorts. COngrats on the big news...see Li's bio for more on that...but heartfelt congrats and best wishes for the future.

Indy sucked but it was cool because 4 hours prior to the game Brandon Stokley dropped by our locker room with about 10 of us in there. We all got to catch up and share some laughs. He's such a cool guy and I'm really happy things finally clicked for him and he has been able to stay pretty healthy.

It was also my first time on that field, which was the home of my favorite team until I got in the business. Still have the horseshoe on my right shoulder to prove it.

Hope the holidays are great and I'll chat at ya later.

Well, that's one way to lose weight I suppose. I wonder if I lost any the last week and a half? hmmm...
I hope you are doing a bit better. I won't be in Chicago for Xmas, but I need to make a trip back soon. I'm sure you will know as soon as I do.

Scary fact: I have taken both Celebrex and Vioxx in my life.

It's that time of year again: Top ten releases for the year in music. I don't do film as I don't watch 'em, but I'll do books next week. It was a shite year in rock, frankly; finding ten was tough, but this was the best of the bunch.

Finally feeling somewhat closer to human this weekend -- got up, got a lot of stuff accomplished and didn't barf once. A triumph! (Yes, my life really is this pathetic.)

Made a green gumbo today that came out quite well. Crayfish, four diff. types of greens, stock, roux, love. Was reallly good, though I ended up making enough to give away which is good because...

Another dismal, rainy day here in Chicago. One of those blah days in which you, and everything around you, just feels sleepy. Oh, add in that we had a pipe break in our basement, and you can see our joy is unending. Oh well-- tonight starts Chanuka (yay!) and we have a dinner tomoorrow with the family, then Eagles of Death Metal at the Bottle....

It is incredible the devolution our society has taken in just four scant years. Initially, I thought the rhetoric surrounding politcs and our media was just an echo of the last time the United States went through a turn-of-the-century; then there was an explosion in "yellow" journalism, overheated rhetoric in Washington and corruption at a scale we are growing familiar with.

Today, however, the confluence...
