The advance reviews are in for my book:
Kirkus sez: "Finely balancing his personal experiences with comprehensive historical detail, and a generous supply of factoid footnotes ... Trecker delivers the goods with gusto."
Booklist sez: "[Trecker's] firsthand account of soccer madness is lively and intelligent, as full of funny anecdotes as it is opinionated commentary... this proves to be the book [fans] were waiting for."
And Publisher's Weekly said something about brothels being a "sportswriting clich," which was news to me.
But, hey: Two outta three ain't bad. And, honestly, that's two more than I thought I would get. This is a book that is somewhat about soccer, after all. And, apparently it is (was?) the #3-selling sports book on Amazon. (That's updated every hour -- it's probably like #57 as I write this. Sheesh.)
NOW: Non-soccer fans: Don't be scared. The dirty secret of my book is that it is more about the wackiness of the Cup and less about the sport. You don't have to know a thing about -- or care about -- soccer to enjoy my book. Or, not enjoy, as the case may be.
Would you like to meet me? You can:

Thanks for all your support!

PS to which sports authors they refer to when I write about brothels as being a "sportswriting cliche"? I will ask around to my friends, maybe they have come about one, but I doubt it...
PS I hope the book has plenty of soccer!!!!! if it doesn's have enough soccer...
