TOP TEN BOOKS
Some explanation here: I'm working on my own book at the moment, so I haven't had much time to keep up with the current crop of fiction, and I hardly thought y'all would like a list of books on the history of architecture or football riots. Some of what I've read for fun also has seemed really over-hyped (The Stolen Child comes to mind). So here's a list of the books I've read this year outside of my work that I enjoyed. Some of them are from 2006; and as the list goes down,so do their publication dates. For example, Chatterje's book came out in 1981, but was re-released by NYRB in 2002, I think. Anyway, enjoy!
Paris (The Secret History) -- Andrew Hussey
Your Face Tomorrow, Fever and Spear -- Javier Marias
Against the Day -- Thomas Pynchon
Planet of Slums -- Mike Davis
The Brief and Frightening Reign of Phil -- George Saunders
Consider the Lobster -- David Foster Wallace
War Trash -- Hae Jin
English, August -- Upamanyu Chatterjee
Starman Archives Vol 1 -- Jack Burnley
Down and Out in Paris and London -- George Orwell

I'll try and put some of that in the next one, sorry.

How did you know that? I'm cooking actually... I have to eat now because I am not allowed to eat after 8 PM for my doc's tests tomorrow. I am such a pussy. I don't like needles. But oh whatthefuck it will go fast. There's worse things in the world and surely much better ones to focus on... like... fries...
