I was at a very short and very good piano concert on Sunday. It couldn't have been more than twenty-five minutes long, but almost nobody could sit still through it! Are people so lost that they can't sit still and in silence for less than half an hour?

I want stillness, silence and calm in my life. Quiet moments painting, reading, relaxing and breathing.

While still and silent and full of needles at acupuncture the other morning, I saw a Koi in my minds eye, saw it swim softly and pull cool water through its gills easily. I thought, 'this is a way of living and being'.

I'm not sure when, but soon I'll be traveling to Palm Desert, California to execute a painting commission! I want to visit the Joshua Tree National Park, and Los Angeles while I'm there. The focus will be on visiting good contemporary art galleries. I'm at the start of my planning and am looking for any and all suggestions about what to do in that part of the world. Any ideas?
