This is gonna be a hard one. A lot of happy memories are rushing through my mind right now. A lot of them are from when I was a kid and only some as an adult. Huh, maybe it has to do with battling depression and anxiety; the curious thing is that my happiest memory is from when I was depressed.
The day I found my kitty, Caos, outside my house was a rainy day, I had just come home from visiting my partner; I remember I sat on the couch and started hearing almost imperceivable “meows”. I thought my brother had his girlfriend’s cat in his room so I stuck my ear on the door to try to listen if the meows were coming from the inside... they weren’t.
I started following the little noises and found they were coming from outside my house, we have a big garden and a lot of plants so I knew it was gonna be a bitch trying to find her. I went inside to put on my rain boots, there was a lot of mud and water and I had to delve into the small jungle we have so I thought it was a good idea.
I went in, moving around the undergrowth, I felt as if I was on a treasure hunting mission. And it was.
Stepping lightly and moving slowly not to startle her, I could listen that I was getting closer, my heart started racing and a smile slowly was forming on my face, and then, there she was. A tiny, beautiful, dirty kitten. She was so small she could fit in my hand, her face was full of mud and she was wet.
I took her inside and wrapped her in a warm blanket, did my best to clean her face, gave her some food and let her sleep.
The next day we took her to the vet, they told me that if I didn’t find her at the time I did she would’ve probably not survive the night, they gave her some lung medication, and some eye drops. Came back home and took off the fleas she had one by one, gave her a bath and had my first nap with her on my bed.
Caos Saved me, she’s the love of my life.
