I am a bit hot and bothered because I just got done looking through Katie & Sirens new shoot Heaven. love Eh hem Anyway, I really like Katies sets. Her Get Dark set must be my favorite on the sight. How can you resist a woman ripping her heart out for the camera?

When I first filled out my profile, I think it must have asked for your favorite band rather than bands, since I only listed the Pogues. On the other hand, maybe I thought attempting to list all my favorites would be useless. I have well over a thousand CDs, and only half of them can be classified as pop/rock/alternative/etc., the rest being classical from early-music/renaissance to modern/avant-garde/minimalist, jazz (esp. be-bop), world, show-tunes, and some I cant classify. I even have a couple of country albums. Steve Earle has a track featuring the Pogues on Copperhead Road, which is why I bought the album, but I actually like the whole thing besides, when Im really drunk even more.

Anyway, the point of this diatribe is that my profile doesn't really reflect much about me, as if anyone can really describe themselves with twenty facts or less. Freaks tend to spend a lot of time trying to classify themselves as hard-core punk or Goth or hippy or skin or whatnot, when the only meaningful quality behind these labels is that were all fucking misfits of the anti-culture.

A friend recently told me she thought I was just a little Goth kid when she first got to know me. I found that statement very odd, but it is true in a very loose sense. If one considers the Smiths to be Goth, then I am very much more Goth than that. On the other hand, my Celtic folk obsession just doesn't jibe with Goth. However, trying to pin me down to a particular freak-type is like trying to pin me down to a particular political philosophy. I think most people are like that, despite how easy it is to classify people when we dont think about it too hard.

At any rate, Goth girls and women in fetish gear do make my heart thump! love

[Do you think I am overusing the smileys lately?]

Adieu,
Jacob
lorelei:
hey, the pogues are the only band you need in your 'fav bands' list! biggrin

yep, lived in ireland half a year, got a temp work permit even though i ended up working as a counter girl in a very shady chinese takeaway that never asked for any type of legal docs, and paid in cash at the end of the night. haha. it was hard to find a *real* job.
i would love to go back, but only for vacation this time.. i got really depressed for awhile when i was living there because some things weren't working out.

oh yeah, understanding people was no problem, save for the drunk old men at the bus station trying to get me to share their can of cider with them. biggrin

re: roddy doyle books/films.
you've never read him? the books are so much better! (as usual). especially if you've been to ireland.. it's easier to appreciate the dialogue and humor. i've seen the snapper, and the commitments of course. i want to see the van but the library doesn't seem to have it.

hmm..where is "little israel"? i'm not that familiar with the eastside. (don't think i want to be either! heh)
