The Mad Professor came to Itaewon, a mere single bus ride and two transfers on the subway away from me, AND I MISSED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The only show that is at all likely to play in Korea while I am here, and I didn't even know about it.
On the upside, I found a good club in Seoul. What did some friendly fellow SG-member in Korea write me ... "The problem with Club Drug is that it's not actually called Club Drug." That had me ROTFLMAO, because it is just so typical of Korea. Not even Koreans can find anything here by an address. If you don't know where a place is already, or know something nearby, apparently you just ain't gonna find it, whether you Korean or Foreign.
However, after looking one weekend and missing the subway back to Suji and having to walk around all night until the buses started running again the next morning, the fellow I mentioned sent directions and I found the place. The music kinda sucked, but it was OK. I've definitely seen worse shows that I didn't walk out on. Plus, everyone was happy and relaxed. Being relaxed is something that's harder to find than silver or gold here, much harder. I liked the club and I like the Hongik area in general. I feel a little more at home in Korea now, which is good because I didn't feel particularly at home in America.

A pretty lady spoke to me at the store this evening. She saw the food in my cart and said she wanted to share my tacos, a rare delicacy here. Unfortunately, my untrusty hearing failed me again and I didn't realize she was talking to me until after she walked away. She probably thinks I'm an arrogant prick now, which sucks because I am desperate for female friendship here. I suppose the word "taco" should trigger some response in my short-circuited brain, but it didn't. Especially here, I just assume no one is talking to me.
I have a doctors appointment in Seoul on Tuesday. I have to remember to ask him about hearing aids. This is getting in the way of everything. I can't make friends. The Koreans just assume I can't understand them, which sometimes I can't, but that's beside the point. It interferes with work, especially with my female students because they speak so quietly I can't hear them at all. It's time I got some hearing aids.
I feel so lonely that I don't even feel like making the fucking tacos now. I think I'll just get drunk instead and sing Police songs all night again.
