The funny thing about having a job is how, even if you don't really like it, you live in terror of losing it. I am being reminded of this situation very clearly these days.

I won't go into the full details of what is going on at work; I'll just summarize it as follows: there's been a restructuring, and it appears that the office I am in, the branch of our company in this city, is being allowed to slowly die. People are leaving and not being replaced. At one time, there were 15 people in my department. Now there are 6, and two more are quitting. My boss is trying to get them replaced, and hopefully she can, or the office will simply be too small to do what it's supposed to. And, thus, we'll probably be shut down.

I don't know what to do if we do get shut down. I suppose I can just go back to the life of temping, but something tells me it's time to really re-evaluate everything. My career so far hasn't really had a path. I've just managed to find another job when one I have goes away (this won't be the first time I'll be "restructured" out of a job if what I fear will happen happens.) So maybe I need to figure out once and for all what I want to do with my life. Which I haven't really wanted to do yet, but maybe it's time.

Who the hell knows. : P
