Somebody very close to me has said something to me the just won\'t get out of my head.

This past weekend, a bunch of us went to a piercing place, and my friend and I had planed to get our lips pierced. This \'someone\' close to me basically speaks up at the last minute and tells me:

\"Maybe you should consider your kids (2 girls aged 2 and 8), you\'re a parent and a roll model for them and being a metal face or a punk of whatever isn\'t really being a good one\"

I could NOT believe this person said this! Needless to say I was so shocked and hurt, I didn't get the piercing.

Since when does having a piercing affect what kind of mother I am? If anything, my kids are brought up in an \'open minded\' environment knowing first hand that judging and ignorance is not acceptable. They will understand that appearances are expressive and not something to be ashamed of.

I only have 2 facial piercings (not including my tongue) - my eyebrow and I have a monroe.... do you think getting my lip pierced makes me a bad roll model for my girls????
