Hmmmm, watching way too much football and not doing much else at the moment. This morning - or rather this afternoon - I got up at 3pm, and since then have been sat on my arse on the sofa being 'entertained' by Spain, Ukraine, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Germany (lucky gits) and Poland, and channel-hopping for that unbearable hour between each match. Tomorrow should be the killer though. Quietly confident of England beating T&T, then when Paraguay beat Sweden in the evening that'll just be the icing on the cake of a nice relaxing week.
I say relaxing, but you have to take Tuesday out of that for it to still count. I went to my local on Monday night and had a mere two pints of lager. That's enough for me to start feeling a slightly, tiny bit off-sober, but nowhere near enough to account for what happened next.
Walking home (about 30 minutes-ish) I started feeling really pissed, and it was equal parts funny and confusing. When I eventually stumbled through the front door, headed upstairs and tried to watch TV, I actually couldn't focus on the screen at all, mainly because it was spinning all over the place. Then I headed to the bathroom and spent the wee small hours with my head down the crapper, hurling my guts out. Which was nice. Not sure if I ate something or if there was something funny in my drinks, but just to be on the safe side, if you're ever in Crosspool I'd stay away from the Grolsch in the Sportsman!
I know I said I'd give a review of Bon Jovi in Manchester, but all that really needs saying is that it was fucking amazing. Nickelback were a quality support act, and then Bon Jovi just kicked ass. One thing I will say is that Richie Sambora actually has a better voice than Jon Bon. All I want for Christmas is a live recording of Sambora doing I'll Be There For You. Simply stunning. For anyone who gives a crap, here's the set list:
Last Man Standing
Rockin' All Over The World
You Give Love A Bad Name
Captain Crash...
I'd Die For You
Born To Be My Baby
Story Of My Life
I'll Sleep When I'm Dead
Runaway
The Radio Saved My Life Tonight
Just Older
In These Arms
Have A Nice Day
Who Says You Can't Go Home
It's My Life
I'll Be There For You (Richie Sambora on lead vocals)
Complicated
Bad Medicine (Medley with bits of Shout and Gloria thrown in for good measure)
Raise Your Hands
Livin' On A Prayer
Encores:
Welcome to Wherever You Are
Someday I'll Be Saturday Night
Dry County
Wanted Dead Or Alive
Keep The Faith
As seems to be the tradition at the moment, here's my $0.02 on the new SG: I like it. Certain thinks are going to take a while to get used to, but like with most new designs, everyone bitches about it to start with then in a few months you'll look at the old site and wonder how you survived.
