Yeah, went christmas shopping last night.
Picked up a book on Nam for my dad. He's a vet, part of the reason he is both proud and dismayed at my actions. But despite combat action in Vietnam, war, especially that one, is of great interest. The living room is filled with books on the planes, battles, tanks, and men that were involved in everything in the past century.
As for his Girlfriend/Wife/Whatever the fuck they are, the Dark Crystal Special Edition.
Also picked up Jarhead for myself.
I imagine that looked interesting.
A guy walks up with short, gelled up hair, camo pants, a leather biker's jacket, and a "WTF?" hoodie, buying two books about war and the Dark Crystal.
Read the entire book last night. Was good. Not sure why I am suddenly writing in this manner, but oh, well. Anyways, book was good. Was not about war. Was not about serving. Was very good at conveying confusion and emotions. Movie was crap. 3/4 of the stuff in the movie was in the book, but not as written. 1/4 of the book was in the movie, and they played mix and match with all that.
Currently enjoying a pint of Ben and Jerry's. Will not enjoy it for much longer.
