Just got back from Canada a wee bit ago.
Went up to visit a family friend who lives in Ayr, for those who know where that is. He was a vietnam vet, and now is a Mohawk elder there. He had me through 2 sweats, and recognized me as a warrior.
For those who do not know what a sweat is, it is a Native American tradition, and to put it mildly, as you walk in, the lodgekeeper/doorkeeper shakes your hand, kisses your cheek, and tells you to "die a good death."
It really is hell, but you come out feeling...well...kinda reborn. You feel like you just died, and this is a whole new life. It was really good spiritually, got me to see some shit that has been hurting for what it really was, that being just a test.
In the end, I really thank my hosts, for they were kind enough to kick my ass in ways that I didn't know about, that being spiritually and mentally, and they have helped me get ready for what lies ahead.
Oh, and as the sweat and talking and all that got me to feel better about myslef, I put my dating thing back up.
Not that anyone will reply about it or anything...
