Also, Napoli... a place where I feel oddly at home. There's normally a market here, but this particular morning, there was some kind of demonstration/protest (a bit earlier in the morning, it included toppling police barricades and lots of punching and yelling...)... I forget wtf it was about.

God damn, I need to travel soon. I really don't mind traveling alone (in fact, I kind of prefer to fly alone), but I do indeed like to share my experiences with someone else.

An ideal travel companion is...
... laidback but aware
... conscientious
... spontaneous
... adventurous
... flexible
... responsible
... energetic
... pleasant to be around, even on 2 hours sleep
... prepared (and if unprepared, resourceful!)
... fit
... happy to be traveling.

I know that sounds like quite a list, but those are some very basic traits that make traveling so much more lovely...

When I travel, I love to explore and to try to get a real taste of the local culture. I don't care about high end restaurants, fancy hotels, and guided tours. I want to meet people and see the nitty gritty stuff. I don't want to be a tourist, just a traveler.

In a travel companion, I like someone who has their shit together and is super trustworthy... but very, very importantly, someone who wants to eat and drink and dance on the beach and go places we didn't plan on going, try things we never imagined we would try.


I've never been any good at putting down roots. I'm itching for something new.
