jack the girl is bored out of her skull.

honest, i've such a hankering for something new, but am rather hemmed in on all sides lately. i just applied to queens u, not because i'm particularily crazy about the school, but because the thought of spending some time (ANY time) out of this god damn rainy city makes me crazily itchy, luminously happy, weirdly horny....

So maybe the set was rejected.

Do I look upset to you?

bix:
You look stoked, and sneeringly seductive. As always.

Roar; buffalo.

laura called the meeting to order and giles threw a pencap at spencer. spencer threw the cap at sam. sam threw it back at giles. we all agreed the zine was good, writing was good, and collages were pretty cool, we all like collages, so why not have some collages in the zine? giles threw the pen cap at jasper and jasper threw it back...

Even George Clooney can not salvage the wreck that is The Good German.

Beautiful film aesthetically, but hey, no surprise there. That's why everyone's going to see it. And I know I probably shouldn't have read the book before I went to go see the movie, because I'm an awful elitist, but...but...

BUT SRSLY

(prepare for spoilage)

If you're going to change the movie...

I walk a fine line with book to movie type situations. I used to read a lot and i enjoy film very much. Once upon a time i wanted the movies to reflect the books the were being made from. but as a filmmaker of sorts, i can't help but to want to make the film better than the book. Some books i've held with lofty ideals but even in those i can see areas that can be improved and if you can improve on it, i say do it.

But as i said i walk a fine line in a grey area.

I've not seen the Good German yet and given your review i'm not sure i ever will.
ra0ul:
Glad you found it clever but as you can see from my resume... i was an advertising whore, paid to be a smart ass. If only i could get it out of my systme entirely i might be a better human being.

I write scripts frequently and i've often thought about doing an adaptation for fun to see how it would work. I've put some time into the thought and i realise that if i were to adapt it'd stick to the narrative of the book but structure it filmatically and above all stick to the tone. As far as characters are concerned, so many books are written in the first person (something which is quite incompatable with film) i would have to take the characters and tweak their arcs to fit the plot, tone and duration of the film. Anything else i could add to please the hardcore fans, i would do my best ie. flashy cinematography, great art direction, costume etc. when it came to shooting.

On that note, there is one novel i was born to make into a feature "Twelve" by Nick McDonell. In my dream existance this would be the follow up to my first feature.

The trailer for The Good German excites me in ways I don't understand. Especially the ending. And I know the film is crap and got bad reviews and will probably dishearten me upon viewing - you know it's a bad sign when you watch only the trailer and find yourself saying 'that's not how it happened in the book...' - but it's time to admit...

saltonsea:

Yup. I went to film school at Cap...
Some of my family lives here too.
saltonsea:

Whoever told you negative things, was telling you the truth.

They teach you about things, but nothing really about applying them. They offer no help towards any practical experience, and some actually don't know what they are talking about, and are really apaththetic about everything. It's just generally not a good program.
There are only 2 teachers there, i think are actually good at teaching.
Well, when i was there at least.

So i ditched to Toronto. But now i'm back. for the time being at least.

WHAM. WHAM BAM.

Finally got myself some fertile ground for procrastination, now in full "fail college" mode. But look! Priddy hospital blue! You can't say no to pretty hospital blue.

Fluctuating between caps, no caps. Cigarettes?

So I attended my first poetry reading on Friday in this tiny loft of a bookstore called "Spartacus Books". Hip. Hip to the fullest. Bursting with hip. Hiplock....

Current conundrum: The Chilis are coming to Vancouver, something I have been waiting for since near grade seven. There are two floor seats available in the 19th row.

I am the only one I know who wants to go to this concert.
