Just a quick note, with more to come later...

Christmas Eve was a success-despite the introduction of new traditions. This morning was wonderful, and everything I had hoped it would be. Our first Christmas morning to ourselves, ever!! That's 12 years folks, that we've given it to somebody else.

Regan loved her, stuff, I love mine, we cried over little silly things we got each...

hello...........nah, i don't have much published except for gay internet stuff, i mean that literally, publishers are sketched out by my stuff mostly, so i'm trying to write something "marketable" whatever that means........ robot

Why thank you! I'm pleased to be a member biggrin It's funny, too...people will ask me what's new, and I'll just blurt it out. "I'm an uncle! She's 6 pounds and 6 ounces!" "Who?" I really gotta find a better way of breaking the news blush

Gifts totally rule!

So here's how Christmas works at our house.

1. Wrapping untold gazillions of packages, until my fingers bleed, my nails are dismembered, and all the tape is gone.
For family of course.

2. Addressing, stamping, licking (eewww), and thinking up original things to write for 200 Christmas cards.
That's right.
200.

3. Collecting, collating, copying, labeling, stuffing, addressing, posting, AND mailing our "Regan and Lance's...

I had an interesting evening last night.

I got a call from an old friend who I haven't seen in 2-3 years yesterday morning, out of the blue. 8-10 years ago we were in a band together, did the regional club thing, had a lot of fun. He played guitar at my wedding. We kept in pretty close touch until a couple of years ago....

Having read your journal entry, I agree that it often takes someone else to make us see how things really are. As someone with an often appalling sense of perspective, I often tend to get bogged down by details: This can render me unable to see a bigger picture, so the views of an objective person are invaluable.

I hope you have a lovely Christmas. smile
shellymc:
I love sushi....
I'd eat fish every day if i could afford to biggrin
Good to hear you had a nice weekend as well as a productive one.
And yes....coconut martini...
It was tropical, dreamy and pretty strong ( i love my vodka biggrin )
The food was wonderful, so i'm hoping after the holidays....we'll make another trip back there.
I can't believe that christmas is already here, is it me or did 2005 fly by?

So I listened to "Never Mind the Bollocks" like three times consecutively on the way home and drivin around.
Cranked up.
I sang along.
It was totally awesome.

In other news, I MIGHT have a gig for this holiday, either Boxing Day or New Years Eve, playin my old timey irish drinkin/rebel songs. First time playing out in 8 years, if it happens. This Irish...

I could certainly listen to that album for a week straight.

That scene in "glory" is probably the best scene in the film. Gets me choked up everytime I watch it.

Yes, work is pretty much going to be one big fat 2 week long day.

So what are your holiday plans?
katrina:
Thanks...I kinda think they made me look like Cruella de Ville a bit... biggrin

Ah, thanks! Yeah, I love the new place. gonna post some pictures of my pyrple bedroom some day soon too, it's so nice! biggrin

Well, we had our first snowfall yesterday and last night. As always doom was predicted, yet we all managed to survive. Not as much as predicted. Which has left me feeling a little disgruntled. I was hoping to have a snow day toady, and no such luck. Just the pain in the ass of driving in the remnants, with all the idgits who don't know...

Yeah he has some skills. Im told I used to crochet when I was a child, but I've got no recollection of it.

Im not a professional sewer but I do like making things, unfortunately everything I make is impractical for everyday wear.

The next time you make something post a picture of it, I always enjoy seeing other peoples work. biggrin Ill do the same.

My first ceremony was a Sweat Lodge, once I got through my first one (I'm pretty sure I passed out somewhere in the middle I knew it was for me. The other large ceremonies I've been to were Sundances. I cant really talk about what goes on at those in depth, as its not allowed but you can look up information on the net about them if youd like. The sort of selflessness that goes on during both ceremonies is what drew me to them; you have to really care about someone or something to do what they do at those ceremonies.

Yes the cornuts I tried to offer them something else else but they just wouldn't have it.

Best Holiday memory hmmm well I guess when I was about 7 or 8 and we were all together that evening opening presents and some christmas special playing on TV. That's the only time I really remember it really feeling like christmas.

I would love something like that, but alas I had to cut my beard do to the nature of my employment. I left my long bearded profile pic up because I miss it. When I quit my job, I WILL grow it back and I will let you know.
Thank you
shellymc:
He misses that beard too!
Was about six inches in length.
He has a pic up in one his folders after he cut it off.
The beard jewelry sounds cool though.
hope you guys are doing well!

Gonna be another busy weekend.

Today, we're going to my folks to hang out with some family come down from Indy. My aunt, her daughter and her new baby boy (who she named after my grandfather- cool!) and her son and his wife and two kids. They are Australian, and I haven't seen him in 7-8 years, before Thanksgiving last week. they were at the...

number 2 is actually from Repo Man,
the other ones the two of you guessed correctly.
The answers to all can be found on the first page of my entry.
NoFi got all the answers.
Which means i obviously am going to have to update sooner than im used to tongue
lycoris:
Ah, that's too bad.

That cat loves dogs, she's so funny. Even my mother-in-law's otterhound, which is a huge breed.

Hapy Thanksgiving everyone!!
We are going to Indianapolis today, where a great deal of my extended family lives. We do the whole she-bang, everybody brings something, lots o turkey and potatoes and yams and beans and such. Then everyone sits around watching ball games or playing euchre. VERY middle America. Cozy n a kind of way.

I'm especially thrilled because we get to see some...

Some of the books i read are true crime stories.
But actually a few of my favorites are not based on true stories at all.
Just from a few writers with a sick and twisted imagination biggrin
My love for poetry and haiku's came from a class i took in high school.
Sometimes all it takes is one good poem to open up a whole new world to you.
Needless to say, my bookshelves have a pretty diverse collection.
Funny enough "In cold blood" was one of the first true crime novels i ever read.
After seeing Capote, i think i want to read it again!

and no.....never applied to be an SG.
In all honesty, i have nothing at all against posing nude.
Just don't have the confidence i had about ten years ago.

So we went to see the new HP a couple of days ago. despite the absolute throng of people in the theatre, we really enjoyed it. It's a god movie- true enough to the book ( as they have all been) to not be objectionable, good enough in their own right to stand among the best of any years movie offerings. The kids in the...

Everyone's talking about foooooood today! But I made roast beef for the first time for dinner, so I have something to ward off the food envy. wink

I've read LotR, HP and tHHGttG from your list. Re-starting HP now because the movie re-ignighted my obsession.

So I get to go have some fun today.
Today is our reenactment groups holiday party.
Lots of drink, goog food, good company, music, etc. We hold it at a county park that has a cabin on it we rent- big fireplace, loft for crashing, etc.
Should be a good time. Only downside- R can't go- she's stuck at a lreally crappy craft bazaar all...

Turducken! You lucky man.
You obviously have good taste in food and booze.
The treacle dowdy sounds rather tasty....if not a diabetics worst nightmare.
And you have an iguana as well.
we see quite a few of them at our clinic.
But yeah, like yourself....i'm into the cuddly animals more so than reptiles, fish or birds.
Hope you had a great weekend.
I'm fixing myself some soup.
We just got back from the wake a little while ago. Damn....they are not only depressing, but you always feel so awkward and fidgety at them too.
shellymc:
You sound like you have a mini farm going on over there!
If i had my own home, id probably have a menagerie of animals myself.
But with an apt. four cats is enough.
Your wife sounds wonderful by the way smile
And i can relate to sometimes taking for granted the good things that are in my life.
Thus the reason for my sappy journal entry which is a little out of character for me tongue

So I watched Kung Fu Hustle a couple of nights ago. I was really pleasantly surprised at how good of a movie it was. I expected silliness, I expected some typical genre improbability, and i expected a good time, but in a "Kung Pow: Enter The Fist" kind of good time.

i didn't know who Stephen Chow was, but apparently he has this love for...

Wow!!
I totally didn't mean to subjugate others to that hellishly long quiz, nor make them feel obligated to take it themselves. just thought it would be a kinda fun way to put myself out there a little.
Anyway thanks to dorwayin and Almalthia for being troopers and doing it too!

Very enlightening...

It's wierd when I'm talking to people all over the place and their weather is the same. Like thunderstorms in Utah and Toronto, at the same time. Apparently thunderstorms can cover continents. What's more bizarre is when they're in, say, England! wink

shit, thats sin you're talking about. wink
