In exactly two hours I start the beginning of my Five day Fast.
This will be the longest Fast I have done to date.
At midnight I join a countless number of activists, protesters, sympathetics and holy men in a nation wide fast against the flat out racism and refusal to properly educate thee american public on Christopher Columbus.
The fact that this country still honors a man who is a rapist, racist, genocidal man is beyond my imagination. Christopher Columbus was no saint before coming to this country. He had spent many a days in European prisons.
Upon his haphazard arrival to "The New World" He began what will forever be remembered as a reign of Forced christianity, brutal rape of our native women, land and our culture. His genocidal wrath did not stick to solely the native population. He took out much of his anger on his African slaves.

This country to this day paints this man as a hero, founding father, and overall great man. Not until Andrew Jackson had this country seen such gentrification.

So as you take your days off from school or your children do please take a moment to think about what Columbus day really stands for.
I can not make anyone else understand but I know I will celebrate this day the day after Germany honors Adolf Hitler Day.
