My dad offered to help me momentary wise to start my business idea. Him and I had a serious talk about a couple weeks ago about my life. I decided Fashion Industry Management wasn't for me a little while ago and talked to him about cosmeotology school. He thinks it's a dumb profession for dumb girls. To quote him, he said "you're smarter than that, E, you made dean's list in college... you're a bright girl, why do you want to cut hair?!"

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
Oh, by the way, my dad calls me E. I don't know why, it isn't after the drug.

Anyways, I was kinda taken back by it... because he knows how much I have to go through to just learn. I have dyslexia and ADHD. Don't get me wrong, I'm not the typical kid that you remember having these problems in school. Yeah, I acted out a lot... most kids with ADHD do. I was always in trouble, but I was in honors classes and did well. I wasn't challenged by the materal, just by keeping still and learning. Haha.

Okay, lemme get to the point already! lol. He knows this. So, for him to say I'm smarter than that is a big kick in the ass or a slap in the face. Basically because he has dyslexia and ADHD too, and he thinks that going to cosmetology school is the easy way out just like he went to electrical trade school for his easy way out. He is "sick of people with learning disabilites settling for trade jobs."

I kind of agree, but maybe that's not a bad way out. Different people are good and different things. People with ADHD might be better at doing trade jobs. SO WHAT! It takes all kinda people to make this country work, and we need people doing trade jobs just like we need doctors. So, it might not be as glamorous of a title as a doctor, but I don't need title, i just need to be happy! I'm creative, I'm good with my hands. I like new challenges and I love change... so what's better than doing hair and make up? I SAY NOTHING!

It's hard to convince him otherwise. He's stubborn, I'll never convince him... maybe just show him the light of the situation?

IF YOU WANT TO READ THE BUSINESS IDEA-

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
SO OH YEAH, my business idea. I think it's a good one... I've been a buyer for a boutique for some time now... I go to NYC and pick out the latest and greatest to put in the store, it's so much fun.... But then it got me thinking, do boutiques that aren't close to NYC get to do this first hand? Or do they just pick the latest and greatest from the area?
I'm still doing research, but I want to try to be a self hired boutique buyer. Travel around the country and help boutiques bring variety from around the country into the store. I know a lot of designers of clothing, bathing suits, hand bags, you name it and it would be great to just take some of their things and try to get their name out in another state other than PA.

I know what you are thinking, how is this going to make you money? Hahaha. Can you tell I'm prepared? The thing is, I'm still in the works of figuring that out. I'm hoping to impress them enough that they will want to fly me to them with my newest finds, but it's all about impressing them first.

A good friend of mine works at Kitson in LA, and I talked to the owner for a brief moment and she said it sounded like a great idea.... I also talked to this woman over e-mail with the hottest boutique/online store in Portland... she thinks it's a good idea.

I hope it is.....

Okay, that's it for me. Check this out!

depending on the specific company most major brands have showrooms on the east and west coasts (usually LA and NY for example) then send sales people out for all other locations that are not easily accessible. Plus, many do the multitude of trade shows throughout the year, depending on their specific industries.

I've worked a lot of wholesale so I've been on the opposite side of most buyers. Sales is very similar, instead of picking out clothing for stores to carry you're offering suggestions on what they should be buying.
