Since joining SG, I have become a devoted fan of several photographers. Listing them means that I will, inadvertently leave some out. But, not listing them ensures that none gets the recognition they deserve. Among my favorites are @THUMP3R, @KEZIA, @ROZ, @KYLA, @TRIPODSKI, @JESSASKITTLES, @DRAWNFROMUSIC, @CERSEI, @SMASHBASE, @LADY, @ZEN, @ MERRYBOUDOIR - to name a few. Observing their work has deepened my appreciation for the photographer's art. They have taught me about settings, composition, lighting, perspective, angles, motion, & so much more! The more I learn, the more I try to compliment photographers who do a good job.
I also appreciate fellow members with an eye for photography, like @FREAKME, @LEWOLF, @THEKARMAGUY, & @JEZZIED. You, also, are my teachers!
And, of course, there are models I respect greatly, such as @FRESA, @IVYLINA, @KETO_SGH, @KPAX, @HARVEST, @CESSIE, @PUGSIE, @ZORY, @CATTLEYA, @LO_, @JIMISIN, @VANP.
I have called you all here, because, the more I appreciate GOOD photography, the more I disdain BAD photography. Just tonight, I saw a set that looked like a tornado swept through a mining camp! The model in the wreckage was beautiful, but not breathtaking. (that distinction has meaning, only because we have many ladies who ARE absolutely breathtaking) I have seen sets with magnificent, pink-worthy models, stuck in what I call, a "violent shooting incident". A couple of times, I have commented, "I'm liking this set, because you are so beautiful, but you really deserve a better photographer" These encounters did not end well. It seems, a negative comment on a photographer is but little less than a negative comment about the model herself. After all, they collaborated in the set, & some were shot by friends, lovers, or spouses. I have learned my lesson. These days, if I see a magnificent model, in an ugly set, I like the set without comment, or a terse one, about her beauty.
I wonder, might it be a good idea to have a like button for models, sets, & photographers? That way, photographers who do a good job could have more recognition. And if a good model got a bad photographer, she can see that for herself, without embarrassing anybody. Then again, it would make things more complicated.
