As America faces another election year, & the rest of the world holds its breath, I feel moved to write at least one political blog. Full disclosure: I am, & have always been, a dyed in the wool Democrat. The Republicans have NEVER, on any level, fielded a candidate that was worth my vote. At best, there were 1 or 2 that didn't seem to belong, either in the circus, or in prison.
I will be casting my absentee ballot (which will not be counted) for Hillary Clinton, over that comb-over clown, even the Republicans can't stand. The dialogue has been unprecedented, but some things are always the same. Most Americans prefer a leader whose first instinct is to cry out for help, to an invisible friend, rather than taking the situation logically. There is broad consensus that killing people is the best way to prove that killing people is wrong. And, of course, we can be the world's be the world's beacon of liberty, while denying the rights of an entire race of our own citizens. For a deeper look into the American mind, or lack thereof, I offer you: The top 10 things to say, if you NEVER want to be elected President of the United States:
1. I don't believe in god.
2 I am gay.
3. If elected, I will extradite George W. Bush, to the world court in the Hague, to be tried for his war crimes.
4. MY top domestic priority is to end our gross hypocrisy, & bring about the full inclusion of African-Americans in our social, political, & economic life.
5.Roe v. Wade has protected this Country from 2 generations of would-be rapists and murderers.
6. My partner & I never had children, because, we didn't want any.
7. If 20 dead first graders didn't move the needle, we will never have a reasonable gun policy.
8. The legalization, regulation, & taxation of prostitution and recreational drugs are the best way to stabilize our economy, fight organized crime, & ensure the long term health of our citizens.
9. The death penalty is beneath the dignity of a civilized nation.
10. The oil industry would rather, drain our natural resources, pollute our atmosphere, and have our highways strewn with dead bodies, because they profit from it, than to use technology we already have, to develop renewable energy, and make our transportation system safer for everybody.
