When models don't go pink, there is often talk of BTS conspiracy by "them". Yet SG claims not to discriminate, and I believe them! After all, the site became famous, precisely, for celebrating different kinds of beauty. In all the conspiracy theories, one group is never mentioned, THE MEMBERS! I believe, it is time for the members to look to ourselves.
If you are a member, you pay for the privilege. You can like whomever you see fit. Nobody is against that. What I propose to my fellow members is, to take another look at what you may have brushed off before. What I am about to share is not a scientific study. It is based, purely, upon my own observations, which I hope, will further the discussion.
By the numbers, our members seem to have a fairly narrow range of women they find attractive. Let's take on the most obvious problem first. Overweight people are the last group it's still o.k. to denigrate in western culture. My dear friend, @AZAZEL, has made it her mission to represent the beauty of plus-size women on our site. I must confess, I fell in love with Azazel, the first time I saw her. She captured an aspect of the Earth goddess for me, as nobody else ever has. I'm not attracted to all large women, but I recognize, they have a beauty, all their own. Unfortunately, I have noticed that any woman who is perceived to be overweight is likely to receive 500 or less likes from our membership.
Other distinctive looking women, including older women, muscular women, & women of color seem to have quite a task in breaking the 1,000 mark. Now that I have reached the point in life where "older women" are, for me, younger women, I never cease to marvel at the fact that, there is a kind of sexiness a woman cannot possess, until she is at least 30 - when the eyes reflect that she's "been there". And, when a woman works hard to fashion her body into a sculpted work of art, I think she deserves all the admiration in the world!
Finally, while I don't vote for everybody, I have to admit, I find EVERY SINGLE black woman on this site, absolutely stunning. And I am mystified and grieved that their like totals are so much lower than they deserve. But, of course, I don't expect black women to look like white women! Evolution has been kind to black women in different ways than white women. The range of skin tones, the curves & angles of their glorious bodies - Just look at @SINOPA, @JIMISIN, @HARA, @MIDNNGHTSUN, @RHEAA, the list goes on & on. But if your standard of beauty is white girls in their late teens to mid twenties, that's all we'll ever see on the front page!
All I ask my fellow members is this: Take another look. Spend some extra time, really looking at models you may have passed by before, & see if your idea of beauty doesn't grow, & SG gets back to the celebration of diverse beauty it was meant to be.
