II. Aesthetics
Perhaps, the greatest contribution of SG to our culture, and why ladies still clamor to be here, is that Missy & Co. offered us a new, more inclusive aesthetic of female beauty. For 60 years, Hugh Hefner, & the Playboy Bunny/Playmate have set the standard, & a very narrow standard it is! If a woman is not under thirty, & in the near neighborhood of 36-24-36, she's not worth looking at. I am convinced, a lot of the negative comments come from people who accept this standard, without even thinking about it. Along with a lesson in basic respect & human decency, they need a reeducation in aesthetics.
An experience I have here, nearly every day is looking at the set of a model who I don't consider my "type", only to notice something about her that really make me gasp, & say "WOW"! An openness to that WOW factor, where ever you find it, is what I believe, the new aesthetic is all about. A woman with small breasts which accentuate the contours of her angular body - WOW! A full-figured woman, with water flowing over the supple amplitude of her porcelain skin - WOW! Nobody likes everything we see, but, if you don't like what you see, why not just move along, instead of leaving a tag or comment that may unduly color another viewer's experience, & bring pain to a woman who is really very beautiful in the eyes of others?
In the U.S. at least, the most important aesthetic lesson we have to learn, along with many more important ones, is that black women are not just white women dipped in chocolate. The Heffner standard is based on white women. Black women have a beauty all their own, and should be appreciated for it. I am continually blown away by the beauty of the black women I have seen on this site! WOW - WOW -WOW!!!!!!!!!!
You never know when that WOW factor will hit you over the head. That's the fun of it! And ladies, thanks for rocking a little of my world, every day!
