I'm getting really excited about this election. This is special for me, because I choose not to participate in elections and government in general, beyond the local level that immediately effects me. I think the process is flawed and corrupt, and I think voting is, for the most part, a way to keep people under the impression that they have any influence over the way...

I was listening to that song "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue" by Toby Keith (right?) earlier today, because it was on the radio at work, and I realized that not only is that song stupid in a lot of ways, but it's also arrogant. Like we're the only country who uses red white and blue on our flag. Here's a list of other...

I grew up listening to country music, and I've never liked Toby Keith. When that song came out, it only cemented my loathing of him.

Actually, there have been a lot of country music artists that have been getting on my shit list lately. I'm really starting to realize why it gets such a bad rap sometimes...

He knows, really. We're both so stressed and frustrated with our current situation that the relationship is really the thing that keeps us going, and every night we hold each other and cuddle and say the same things every night - I love you, I couldn't do this without you, I'm so happy that I'm with you... It helps us both get through the days, I think.

I'm very excited and intrigued by the new Star Trek movie, directed by J.J. Abrams. The trailer is up on YouTube, but I don't know how long it will be there considering it's a camcorder recorded clip. Check it out while you can, then check out the IMDb page on it.

Vice President Cheney underwent another heart procedure today. I have a feeling that his heart problems aren't anything typically diagnosed by modern medicine. I think it's the fact that his heart is made out of coal. Or maybe shit. Maybe pure evil given material form. Not really sure, but definitely something like that.

Back in my high school days and my first few years in college, I knew a girl on the Internet by the name of Deanne. All I knew about Deanne was that she was older than me by some measure of years, she lived in Florida, she had a tiny little mouse voice, she and her parents were French (at least her Dad was), and...

Some girl in some school got two days of detention the other day for hugging her friend. I just read about it on Digg. Obviously that's ridiculous, but the part that caught my attention was what the mother said when asked why she made her daughter serve out her ridiculous punishment:

"Coulter said she and her husband told their daughter to go ahead and serve...

So, I'm going to stick my neck out to be sawed off (which, apparently, is a staple of Halloween now also and deserves a ranting post of its own) and say that Nightmare Before Christmas really isn't as good as people think it is, and it certainly isn't good enough to be the modern Halloween anthem that it's become. It's good. I like it. It's...

I'm on a Costco sales seminar right now. It's where Costco pays their sales staff to go out of town to a big training thing that corporate does and learn about all the cool electronics-related stuff we're selling. That doesn't matter in the slightest - what matters is that I get a free hotel room, all to myself, and the most important part: $75 per...

So, apparently I'm an amazing reader. A friend of mine and I are taking the same philosophy classes this semester (a seminar on Heidegger's "Being and Time" and an aesthetics course that has, so far, covered Sibley, Danto, Isenberg, and Mothersill, if you're interested), and on each of her papers I've somehow illuminated something that she completely missed while doing the reading and writing.

And...

For some reason, this morning in the shower I decided to post a list of my favorite words to my SG blog. I have no idea why. Blame my shower.

Gnarled
Superfluous
Ostracize
Assay
Spontaneity
Defenestration
Penultimate
Existence
Pornography
Aegis

Not a top 10, but some of my favorite sounding words. Doesn't really have anything to do with the meaning, just the sound of the...

We definitely need you for Kara Sunday night if you're able to be around. We're going to try to start at 9pm, and hopefully we'll have enough people. We're doing Opera and Curator if all goes well.
