Does it bother anyone else when someone brings up scripture as a way of telling some kind of story, or constructing some kind of metaphor, and then says, "Remember that?" Like it's already established that everyone has read the bible and understands what they're talking about?

It bugs the hell out of me.

I'm going to start making Dune references in class and assuming that everyone else knows exactly what I'm talking about, so I don't have to explain anything.
