You know... about 13 scenes into the screenplay I'm writing with a very good friend of mine, I realized that it's actually good. It's quite good. We talked about shopping around for agents today, even though the treatment/scene analysis isn't finished yet.
I'm getting excited. I was just writing it to write something and give myself a much needed creative outlet, but it's going to be really good. I'm excited.
We're taking such an organized, structured, disciplined approach to writing it, and we're taking such care to figure out who the characters are and what they're about before we set up each scene, that we're not even half-way through the script but we have over forty pages of details to cull from when we write the final dialogue. We have subtext, motivation, conflict, opening values, closing values, beats... for every scene. It's awesome.
I can't wait to finish it.
