"Friendships of utility." An excellent description. My problem is that I tend to see that, but find ways to excuse that person's self-centered behavior. I always seem to default to being overly forgiving. Maybe it's time to change that, now that I've accepted it... Thanks for the meditation pointers, too. I'll keep you posted.
