Otis Redding is so fucking soulful. I can't even handle it.

So fucking good. I can't believe he died so young.

"Friendships of utility." An excellent description. My problem is that I tend to see that, but find ways to excuse that person's self-centered behavior. I always seem to default to being overly forgiving. Maybe it's time to change that, now that I've accepted it... Thanks for the meditation pointers, too. I'll keep you posted. biggrin

Forgive me for I have sinned...I have seen the error of my ways and there are now boobs in my blog.

Thank you to everyone (well, the small collection of people) who left comments on my previous blog. I was in kind of an emotionally volatile state and even that small gesture means a lot.

This is sort of a continuation of the last blog, though not nearly as heavy. In thinking of my late grandpa, I very briefly tried to find some information on him....

This is heavy, sentimental blog. Spoilered.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

For some reason, I was reminded of my late grandpa earlier today. I don't really think about him, or anyone that I know that's died, because I have a huge existential problem with death. I don't know if it's a subconscious effort to ignore it because I have such a problem confronting it, or what....

I love the night in a city when the world is covered in snow. It's like the night on a full moon, but better. All the light from the sky, the street lights, the moon... it's all reflected in every direction by the snow, and it turns night into this surreal, contradictory landscape, where it's dark but everything is bathed in this ambient, crisp, sourceless...

Blizzard put up a StarCraft II battle report, which is basically a replay with commentary. It's ruining my life. How can they do something like that when I can't play the damn game?

Don't they know how fragile I am?
atomicant:
dude. it's starcraft with better graphics. a few new gameplay options. calm down.
atomicant:
what? it's a video game. i just can't understand why everyone is SOOOOO OMFG excited for it.

More news about my failure of a professor:

I went in to take my final exam in the philosophy department office today. The administrative assistant who scheduled my time for the exam told me to be there at 1:00. I had to take it in the philosophy department because my professor, who missed my final because he got mixed up on what time it was,...

I had professors like that. They're dead now.

So, that professor that I don't really like who used bad Star Wars references just skipped our final. Just didn't show up. We waited half an hour, then signed an attendance sheet which we put into his mailbox, then bailed.

He e-mailed all of us just now and basically said "Whoops, my bad!"

I'm pretty pissed.

Lame.

And I'd let you. wink

One of my professors just used Star Wars as a serious analogy in a philosophy class. I'm not opposed to Star Wars references in philosophy, because there are actually some decent ones to be made.

But then he started talking about how the Skywalkers were just a bunch of whiney bitches (his language, not mine), and that's when I tuned out.

If he can't understand...

I've moved on to do some questing in BT, but it's really irritating to me - mostly it seems like all the quests I want to do are in areas that are swarming with mobs that will aggro at the drop of the hat, plus more will spawn right on top of me while I'm fighting.

Makes it hard to want to play. I tend to get to a point eventually where I just go, "Bugger this, I'm going to go fishing." Which reminds me, I need to do some research on some fish that I've caught recently...

That's pretty much how I feel right now. Keeping track of all of this is such a nightmare. I thought the hard part was everything I did to qualify. surreal

I went in for my hair appointment and I found out that my stylist, a hip and chatty 27 year old, is a republican.

I was shocked. She's the first one of my circle of friends/acquaintances who wasn't absolutely jumping for joy on election night. She must be so bummed.

Heh. Heh. Heh.

Minor update: I discovered my power supply is not oomphy enough to support another device, and so have scrapped the two-hard drive plan and have gotten Diva Drive set up just they way she ought to be.

Yep, overall, I'm pretty content.
