I've purchased 8 CDs over the past two weeks. I just lined them up to listen to them, and realized that six of the eight were on the Metropolis label. (Icon of Coil, Fixmer/McCarthy, Assemblage 23, Funker Vogt, Apoptygma Berzerk, Front242.) It was then that I realized how much ass this label kicks.
I don't remember that happening since the golden age of industrial, with TKK, KMFDM, 242, etc, when everything I bought was on WaxTrax.
They both started as record stores, they both specialize in industrial...
So do you think that Metropolis is the new WaxTrax? A label where you can pretty much buy anything they release and know it's gonna be good?
(Bonus question: would that make Philly the new Chicago?)
I sure hope industrial is on a big upswing. Nothin' beats industrial dance with quarter drafts.
