What a stressfull weekend. 7am Saturday morning I had to take my Mom to the hospital for what we thought was a gall attack. Turns out(after several hours of tests, and waiting, and doctors, and waiting, and forms, and waiting, and did I mention waiting) it was a kidney stone. The ER doc said it was probably too big for her to pass(5 mm, for any medical geeks out there). Also it was stuck in the tube coming out of the kidney. Gotta wait for the urologist. So she was admitted Saturday afternoon. The urologist said he would try to blast it apart with a laser on Sunday morning, but if that didn't work, full blown surgery.
Now I'm pretty stressed. Afterall, Mom is 71. Any procedure is risky, and the older you are the riskier.
So I crashed at my cousin's place Saturday night. Today, the doc was able to use the laser. Everything went perfect. And amazingly, I was able to bring her home this afternoon. She has to wear a bag for a couple days, but that gets taken out on Tuesday.
Now if I can just get her medical insurance straightened out(thanks to medicare and our almighty government.)
