Im a new member and a bit lost with the whole following, followers and groups

Just have a browse around, post in groups that interest you. People will follow you who want to see your posts on that persons newsfeed and follow those who interest you :)

oh ok and if i wanted to get specific and be apart of local group i would do it on the search bar correct?
